Wai Care is a community environmental education and action program helping to raise awareness of our waterways and the local environment in Papakura. Using water quality monitoring as a tool, the Wai Care program aims to empower the community to protect the health of our waterways through a network of schools, community groups, and other organisations. The people involved in the program are working together for healthy waterways in our District.
Primarily focusing on taking action with the Wai Care groups, together the Council and the groups are committed to helping improve our streams and reduce the pollution. It’s not just about testing the water quality, it’s about improving our environment and restoring our streams to health.
