Creating our Future

In Papakura, we are aiming to create a broad “community plan” with partnerships across community agencies, businesses, iwi, local, regional and central government to enable everyone to contribute to making the community’s vision a reality. We are calling this partnership “Progress Papakura”.

We are creating a vision and way forward to achieve:
• a healthy natural and built environment;
• enhanced social well-being (including the provision health and education services);
• greater economic prosperity; and
• enhanced cultural well-being.

In essence, a successful District. A place where people enjoy living. Where they feel safe, where it’s easy to get around and there are employment choices. Where the environment is enjoyed and also protected for our children’s children. It’s a place where people are proud to live.

We are building a way for people in the community, businesses, iwi, local, regional and central government agencies to all contribute to making this vision a reality.

For Progress Papakura, the Council has active support from the Department of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Social Development, Counties-Manukau District Health Board, and the Auckland Regional Council, through a partnership called Sustainable Communities.

If you’d like to take an active part in building Papakura’s future, please contact Papakura District Council on 295 1300, or Ann Kendall at Department of Internal Affairs on 263 7746 or 027 4511372.

Together, we are building a better future for the District. Join us.
