Filming in Papakura
Our
diverse scenery from the Hunua Ranges to the
Hingaia waterways, makes the District
an ideal location for all types of filming.
The
Council has applied for Film Friendly certification,
and is part of 'Auckland
Film' with other Territorial Local Authorities
in the wider Auckland region. We mean to keep
filming in our District as simple as possible.
All filming that occurs in the public locations or
that impacts on local traffic, must seek
filming approval from the Council. Contact
the Council’s
Events Co-ordinator
to discuss your
filming requirements and whether you require
Council approval, prior
to filming.
If you do require approval,
the Council has a simple form that can be
emailed for completion and return. Our
Events Co-ordinator facilitates
the filming approval process
through Council on your behalf, and becomes
your point of contact to ensure approval is received as quickly as
possible.
Temporary
Road Closures for Filming and
Events
Events and filming that require a temporary road
closure must receive approval from the Council. The Council
recommends discussing your temporary road closure
request with our Events Co-ordinator
who will will advise you of requirements
and an indication of when you could
expect to receive approval.
It is important to note.
that the Council do not manage road closures
for filming and events. This
is the responsibility of the organiser to ensure that
adequate resources are provided to implement
the temporary road closure.
For a temporary road closure you need:
-
Submit a
written request for the temporary road closure
including such details as which roads, reason for road closure, date
and time of road closure, contact person on the date of the road
closure and if the event/filming will be cancelled due to weather. and
reason for closure
-
A Traffic Management Plan (compiled
by an authorised traffic controller)
detailing who will be implementing the traffic management plan for the
event/filming
Both the request and the
plan should be given to the
Events Co-ordinator
at the Council. The Events Co-ordinator than
facilitates this request through the Council on your behalf.
