Environmental Health - Liquor Licence Objections An applicant for a new liquor licence, the renewal of a licence or the variation of the conditions of an existing licence, must place two Public Notices in the Papakura Courier (unless the Licensing Agency otherwise allows). The second one should appear in the Papakura Courier the week following the first publication. All objections to an application must be received within 10 working days following the first publication of the Public Notice.
All objections must be in writing, preferably typewritten, with the full name and address and the signature of the objector. Anonymous or objections that are invalid (irrelevant criteria etc) will not be considered. TheLicensing Authority will give more credibility to individual objections than petition type objections. The objection must be delivered to the Secretary of the Papakura District Licensing Agency within 10 working days of the date of first public notice of the application. The objection should be addressed to the Secretary, Papakura District Licensing Agency, c/o Papakura District Council, 35 Coles Crescent or Private Bag 7, Papakura. What happens when a valid objection is received A copy of the objection is given to the applicant. The application including the objection, will normally be forwarded to the Liquor Licensing Authority who will determine the application on the papers submitted (without a hearing), or will schedule a public hearing in Auckland to hear valid objections. The objector is expected to attend the hearing to justify the objection. |
