Community
Grants
Papakura District Council
through its grants programme supports a wide range of groups in the
community who provide local services and activities on a voluntary or
‘not for profit’ basis to the community.
The aim is to assist
Papakura’s community groups in meeting the needs of local residents.
This assistance includes grants and funding for the arts, the
Creative
Communities Scheme,
Road Safety Projects, or
local
community grants.
Aside from the Council’s
funding, there are other
Funding
Agencies that provide assistance to local community groups,
including the
Community Organisation Grants Scheme
Community Organisation
Grants Scheme
The
Community Organisation Grants Scheme (GOGS) is a central government
funded scheme that supports essential projects and services within New
Zealand that if not provided, will lead to a greater cost to government.
A COGS grant
can help fund a community organisation providing these essential
projects and social services to Maori and Pacific Island communities and
people, women, seniors, young people, children, families, the
unemployed, people with mental and/or physical disabilities and those
living in isolated areas.
If a
community group or organisation is New Zealand-based and it provides
essential social services to the above group of people then it can apply
online for COGS funding.
